July is here! Summertime! The flowers in my yard were blooming so I thought they made a great backdrop for my DT project this month at Altered Eclectics.
This month I chose to take inspiration from Finnabair to do this small canvas. I love her art and all of the things you can do in this style!! I hope this gives you inspiration to join us for this months challenge!
I started with a 5x7 canvas and covered in black gesso. I used paper scraps, texture and embossing pastes to create dimension. I added all of the baubles, flowers, and bits and coated again with black gesso (covered area stamped over white while gessoing in black) I then used various spray inks and pigment powders for the color!
Here are a few more pics of my process,,,
I would also like to enter my project in the following challenges for July...
Super excited to find that there is a new challenge just for tags!! It was created by our lovely leader Sandie from Rhedd's Creative Spirit challenge blog! The new site is Go Tag Thursday! I am a tag-aholic and love creating new tags using all sorts of new techniques I see as well as creating a few of my own! So for my first entry on Sandie's new site I chose a butterfly theme with a layered look. I also combined three of my favorite inspirational people in the craft world's stamps and stencils. The lettering is Wendy Vecchi, the leaves are from Dyan Reaveley, and the moths and butterflies stamp and dot stencil are from Tim Holtz. I also used Tim Holtz distress inks in several colors.
It is June already and time for a new challenge over at Altered Eclectics!! For my first DT project as a member I have chosen to alter a cigar box. I used a mix of clay sculptures, recycled jewelry, texture pastes, stains, and embossing powders to create tis one of a kind piece! I love how it turned out and I hope you get some inspiration from it! From This.....................
I chose a small wall hanging to inspire everyone this month, I used a recycled piece of cardboard, paper scraps, TH Distress stains, Hero Arts stamps, a recycled vintage blue rhinestone necklace, a stick, gesso
SOo from just a blank piece of cut cardboard here is what I got!!
I used texture paste through stencils as well as embossing folders on some scraps to create the Eiffel. I used a variety of watercolors on the butterflies which were stamped on tan paper in white ink then watercolored and fussy cut to adhere to project.
